Wilmslow Artisan Market

Since its establishment in July 2011, the Wilmslow artisan market has operated in the town’s centre, for 6 hours on the third saturday of every month. Consisting of over 115 artisan traders, it has won various awards, both regional and national. With over 8000 facebook followers, the community is certainly growing and has hundreds of visitors every month, enabling the showcase of small businesses and traders, and an ethical alternative to mass produced online goods.

WHY VISIT THE MARKET?

Who can beat handcrafted, personal goods or the chance to try authentic, fresh street food? Alongside a variety of food vendors, artists, and clothing designers, the market is frequented by choirs and performance groups, especially during special events such as Christmas or Easter. The Cheshire town’s suburban location is surrounded by many outdoor, shopping, or entertainment opportunities, making it ideal for all ages. The market often coincides with other local events such as the summer music festival, making it a large part of the Wilmslow community. In November 2023, Manchester United footballer Millie Turner even made an appearance to help with the Christmas light switch-on!

The hard work of The Market Co team certainly does not go unnoticed, with regular social media updates helping to inform the community on all upcoming events, changes, and contributions towards the market. Their online website also provides the opportunity to explore the traders and businesses at each market, so if you didn’t get the chance to visit, or missed an item you were really interested in, you can still access their products.

Without a doubt, the Wilmslow Artisan Market is a vital aspect of the town’s thriving community and is certainly not an event to be missed. Catch them next month for the first market of 2024 on the 17th of February.
